A Philhellene is a “friend of the Greeks”. Lord Byron is one of the more famous people known as a Philhellene when he helped the Greeks in their battle for independence.
The Philhellenes Dance Group first performed at Winter Warm Up 30 years ago. Formed from a group of dancers led by Denny Wood who continues to share her deep knowledge of Greek dance and culture.
They danced at many events over the following years, including the 125th anniversary of the first Greek arrivals to New Zealand.
