Winter Warm Up Workshop
International Folk Dance with Chris Wild. Danish House, 6 Rockridge Ave, Penrose 12-13 August 2023 Chris Wild has been dancing with the popular Sydney-based Sedenka Dance Group since it began in 1969, leading the group since the mid-1990s. She has travelled extensively in Europe, taking part in dance seminars and workshops in various countries including Bulgaria, Armenia, Greece, Macedonia, Albania and Transylvania. This workshop offers some of Sedenka’s favourites from the Eastern European folk dance repertoire. Balfolk Auckland
Balfolk Auckland is a weekly dance gathering in which traditional European dance forms are explored as a vibrant dance experience. Balfolk instructor, celebrated teacher and choreographer Michael Parmenter includes regional French dances such as the chain dances from Brittany, the bourrées from the Auvergne along with dances from the Basque and Bearn regions of southern France. Balfolk is a popular dance movement that has reinvented traditional European social dance forms and music as a vibrant dance experience. Partner dances like waltz, mazurka, Scottish and polka sit alongside group contra-dances, circle dances and mixers (dances structured to rotate partners) that are simple to learn and invite improvisation.
